FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do Tryouts Work?

Coaches will post material to this website the Friday before Tryouts. The first two days of the Tryout will be reviewing material, answering questions, and getting to know each other.

Saturday will be the official Tryout. Athletes will be given a number and tryout in groups of 3-4. There won't be callbacks and you may leave after your tryout.

The finalized team list will be posted later that day the website.

Who Can Tryout?

Centennial Middle Cheer allows any boy or girl going into 7th or 8th grade in Utah County to tryout.

You do not need to be attending Centennial Middle School.

What if I Can't Attend Tryouts?

You can submit a virtual tryout! You will need to email us at centennialmiddlecheer@gmail.com to get information on what will be required to show in your video submission.

How to Prepare for Tryouts?

Stretching and staying active are the best ways to prepare! You can watch videos and review technique for jumps, follow stretching tutorials, and practice some of the Cheers we learn over the season to either brush up on skills or learn new ones. If you would like tips or need ideas of where to look online for help, message us on Instagram!

How Many Make the Team?

This number varies year to year based on tryout scores, coaching staff, and how many we have tryout!

Nothing is set, but we are hopeful for a big team this year.

We do not base team numbers on the grade of a person trying out.

Are Returners Guaranteed a Spot?

No, it is never guaranteed that a person will make the team.

Attitude and work ethic throughout the season you were on the team play a large role in whether you will be joining us for a second season.

*If you are nervous about this or have questions, please reach out to a coach for clarification*

How Much Does it Cost?

Cheerleading is an expensive sport by nature. We try our best to keep our program cost effective without sacrificing quality. Cost breakdown will be available in our tryout packet.

Message the coaches for more information if you are in need of a payment plan.

What Qualifications do Coaches Have?
Our coaches have memberships with USA specializing in youth cheer, as well as experience either cheering or coaching high school and college. We attend coaches trainings each year to stay up to date on new technique in order to best prepare your young athlete for higher levels of cheerleading.

How Long is Your Season?

We start practices at the end of April. We continue through the summer, and cheer for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade football during their season. The football teams typically play from August-October, and have a chance to go into the beginning of November.

New this year, we have started adding a Showcase as our final event of the season, which happened the first weekend in November at Provo high this past year.
