Tryout Clinic Information
*If you cannot attend the parent meeting or tryout clinic in person, reach out to the coaches through email centennialmiddlecheer@gmail.com or on instagram @centennialmiddlecheer.
TRYOUT MATERIAL:
The dance and cheer will be posted to this website on Friday, April 4. Please learn these to the best of your ability before coming to the first day of the clinic. We want to spend the majority of the time cleaning rather than teaching.
TRYOUT CLINIC:
April 10-12 (Thursday-Saturday)
April 10 & 11 - 4:30-6 pm @ Centennial Middle School (305 E 2320 N, Provo)
Saturday, April 12 - Tryout TIME TBA (AM) @ Breakin Circles (3218 N University Ave, Provo)
*These dates are subject to change depending on weather–the clinic will happen as close to these days as possible.
MANDATORY PARENT MEETING
Friday, April 11 @ 5:45 pm
*We will go over the tryout packet in person, answer questions, and introduce ourselves to parents. We will meet at the pavilion on the field at Centennial.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Wear athletic shoes. (If you have cheer shoes, wear those. If not, don’t stress about it!)
Hair should be in a ponytail or out of your face.
Dress for the weather, but wear athletic clothing (sweatpants and a jacket if it is cold–leggings, shorts, spanks, tshirt, or tank top)
TRYOUT SKILLS:
*The tryout will give each participant the opportunity to demonstrate skills in the following areas: jumps, dance, cheer, and tumbling. You will not stunt during this tryout clinic or at the tryout.
The following categories are what the judges will score:
Entrance
Voice Projection
Jumps
Motions
Tumbling
Memory
Dance
Overall Impression (Facials, Energy, Confidence, Eye Contact)
The tryout will consist of:
Running Tumbling/Entrance (if you have it, it will be part of the Entrance)
Jumps: a single toe touch, and a 2 jump sequence of your choice. (Jumps include Toe Touches, Herkies, Hurdlers, and Pikes)
Cheer
Dance (which will include the option of standing tumbling)
